Rablay-sur-Layon, Anjou, France

Jérôme Lambert is one of the most respected artisan winemakers in France's Anjou wine region, cultivating just a few hectares of vineyards around the village of Rablay-sur-Loire in the Loire Valley. A passionate advocate of natural viticulture and low-intervention winemaking, Jérôme has built a reputation for producing some of Anjou's most expressive, terroir-driven wines.

Although born and raised in Anjou, Jérôme did not come from a winemaking family. His journey into wine developed organically over many years as he carefully acquired small vineyard parcels throughout the region. Today, his estate reflects a lifetime of dedication to sustainable farming, meticulous vineyard management, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.

Working in harmony with nature, Jérôme embraces biodiversity by allowing native grasses, wildflowers, and local vegetation to flourish naturally among the vines rather than introducing planted cover crops. His vineyards, averaging more than 45 years of age, are deeply rooted in the classic soils of Anjou. Chenin Blanc is grown on the region's renowned black and grey schist, producing wines of remarkable minerality and precision, while Grolleau and Cabernet Franc thrive in sandy loam soils that deliver freshness, elegance, and purity of fruit.

In the winery, Jérôme follows a minimalist philosophy, allowing the character of the fruit and vineyard to take centre stage. Fruit selection is exceptionally rigorous, ensuring that only the finest grapes make it into each vintage. No oak barrels are used, preserving the purity, freshness, and vibrant fruit profile of every wine. Every stage of production is handled with extraordinary care, particularly during bottling, where meticulous non-oxidative techniques protect the wines' natural energy, aromatic complexity, and longevity.

Jérôme Lambert is especially renowned for his outstanding Chenin Blanc wines, crafting multiple single-parcel cuvées harvested at different levels of ripeness to showcase the remarkable diversity of each vineyard site. His elegant Grolleau and Cabernet Franc wines are equally compelling, offering vibrant fruit, refined structure, and authentic expressions of the Loire Valley terroir.

Since 2017, Jérôme has also produced two exceptional sparkling wines: De l'Air, made from Chenin Blanc, and De l'Air de Rien, a blend of Gamay and Grolleau. Crafted with the same attention to detail as his still wines, these sparkling cuvées combine finesse, complexity, and impressive ageing potential.

Every bottle from Jérôme Lambert reflects the philosophy of truly small-scale, hands-on winemaking. Mineral-driven, vibrant, and beautifully balanced, his wines capture the unique character of Anjou while expressing the authenticity, precision, and craftsmanship that define one of the Loire Valley's most exciting natural wine producers.
