Jordi Llorens | Catalonia | Spain

Jordi Llorens farms several hectares of particularly dry terroir in Spain, producing some of the most astonishingly fine, refreshing, and terroir-driven wines in the region. Known for his commitment to organic farming, Jordi’s wines capture the unique character of his vineyards, offering a rare combination of elegance, freshness, and expressive mineral notes that reflect the extraordinary soils of Blancafort.

Growing up among the vines and almond trees of his family’s land, Jordi was immersed in agriculture from an early age. His family has been farming in the region for eight generations, a legacy that eventually drew him back from city life. His first personal vintage was in 2008, crafted from family vineyards that have always been farmed organically. Today, with 15 hectares under cultivation, Jordi Llorens is among the largest organic winegrowers in the area, consistently producing wines that showcase both quality and a strong sense of place.

Jordi’s vineyard is planted in a natural amphitheatre in a region known for extreme temperatures and limited rainfall. Yet, the wines are shaped less by climate and more by soil. The region boasts some of the highest limestone content in Europe, giving the wines a distinctive minerality and finesse. Both the whites and reds are aromatic, with bright acidity, palate-staining flavor, and a delicate weightlessness, reflecting the exceptional potential of this historic winegrowing terroir. It is clear why grapevines have thrived in this area for hundreds of years.

Precision is at the heart of Jordi Llorens’ vinification approach. Most wines are fermented in stainless steel, while elevage may take place in stainless, amphora, or wood depending on the cuvée. Some wines benefit from temperature-controlled fermentation, resulting in highly focused, expressive, and primary flavors. The white wines are lightly macerated, and reds are often gently fermented as whole bunches, producing vibrant fruit and elegant structure across the range.

In addition to his own label, Jordi is a founding partner of the Can-Vi project alongside Cristina Vaqué and Jordi Solé. This innovative Blancafort venture produces high-quality 250ml cans of white, red, and sparkling wines, combining convenience with the same terroir-driven excellence that defines Jordi Llorens’ broader winemaking philosophy.
