Alexis & Emelie Porteret

Domaine des Bodines | Arbois | France

Domaine des Bodines was the life’s work of Alexis and Emilie Porteret, who for a decade produced small-batch, high-quality natural wines from a compact vineyard on the outskirts of Arbois. Though the project has since ended, the wines they made continue to be sought after for their purity, balance and expression of Jura terroir.

Alexis and Emilie took over the domaine in 2010 and steadily refined their approach to low-intervention viticulture and careful vinification. Until 2017 Alexis split his time working for another domaine, but after deciding to work full time at home he suffered a serious rugby injury. Emilie stepped in to manage the majority of the vineyard work and single-handedly vinified the entire 2017 harvest. Their resilience through those years — alongside repeated challenges from frost and hail — demonstrates a commitment to quality that never compromised the character of their wines.

Located on the Route de Dole, just minutes from central Arbois, the Domaine des Bodines sits on a gentle north-west facing slope that maximises daily sun exposure. The site’s mix of clay and limestone creates ideal growing conditions: clay moderates ripening for extended flavour development while limestone preserves bright, refreshing acidity. This combination produces wines with ripe, generous flavours balanced by lively acidity — a clear expression of Jura terroir.

The vineyard covered four hectares planted on classic Jura clay and limestone soils. Varieties grown included Pinot Noir, Poulsard, Chardonnay, Savagnin and Vin Jaune, each vinified to showcase the site’s mineral-driven structure and natural farming philosophy. The wines of Domaine des Bodines remain valued examples of thoughtfully produced Jura natural wine.
