Halcyon Days | Hawke’s Bay | New Zealand
Halcyon Days is a Hawke’s Bay–based natural wine project founded in 2018 by winemakers Amy Hopkinson-Styles and Olly Styles, united by a shared passion for organic viticulture, minimal intervention winemaking, and expressive, small-batch wines.
Raised in regional New Zealand, Amy developed an early connection to the land and sustainable agriculture, later refining her craft through formal winemaking studies and international experience in Spain’s Castilla y León, where she helped establish a winery sourcing fruit from historic pre-phylloxera Tempranillo vineyards and deepening her appreciation for old-vine expression.
Olly, originally from Oxfordshire, brings a complementary perspective as both a trained winemaker and respected wine writer, contributing thoughtful articulation of their philosophy and process. Now based in Hawke’s Bay, the duo craft natural wines from certified organic vineyards in Mangatahi and Bridge Pa, regions known for their alluvial soils of red gravel and loam and ideal growing conditions.
With abundant sunlight critical for balanced fermentation and natural malolactic conversion, Halcyon Days produces vibrant, site-driven wines that reflect the purity of the fruit, the integrity of organic farming, and the true essence of Hawke’s Bay terroir.
