2016 | Schnabel | Blaufränkisch Hochegg

$180.00

Description:

Blaufränkisch from siliceous soils with iron deposits. Compared with Koregg, Hochegg is finer, cooler and more delicate, needing a little longer to unfurl its complexity, whereas Koregg is more immediately open, complex and fruit-forward in its youth. Aged in old barrels.

This Blaufränkisch is a true expression of the Hochegg terroir: highly mineral with saline undertones and restrained fruit aromas, elegant, layered and upright. The Central European red shows excellent bottle potential and is vinified without additives or interventions. The 2016 vintage yielded low crops with thicker skins, producing wines that are more gastronomic and mineral.
