2017 | Domaine Sauveterre | Promess

$67.00

Description:

Promess comes from Jérôme Guichard’s relatively recent Gamay parcel planted on pure limestone in Uchizy, Mâcon. Clean and precise, it shows dark fruit aromas, fine, taut tannins and a core of bright varietal acidity. The 2017 cuvée is dark, smoky and fleshy while retaining very, very fresh acidity.

Jérôme farms three small Chardonnay plots around Montbellet and a single Gamay parcel on an excellent slope to the south in Leynes, shared with Philippe Jambon and Pierre Boyat. A former landscape artist, his affinity for plants is evident, but his deep knowledge of microbes—especially yeasts—and his ongoing work to enhance soil life and diversity have earned him recognition as one of the region’s leading growers.

Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and pair with generous, well-made food.
