2020 | Siider | Bohnapfel

$85.00

Description:

From an old German apple variety that fruits every other year and has notably thick skins. Pressed and made as a still wine, then aged for a year in barrel. Fruity and vinous, with refined tannins and refreshing acidity.

Located at the southern end of the Jura mountain range, brothers Par Cyrill & Ivan Hossli inherited their grandfather’s orchard in 2013. Cyrill is the winemaker and Ivan the arborist; from the start they committed to making cider from completely untreated fruit and bottling with zero additives.

Their region once had a strong cider-making tradition that had nearly vanished over the past two to three generations, leaving many old trees of ancient cider varieties effectively neglected.
