The 2021 Gamay cuvée is from 1955-planted vines in Theizé (towards Mâcon), fermented whole bunch and aged in foudre. Coming from a slightly warmer vintage, it shows rich dark-red fruit and generous, fleshy primary flavors, with a subtle earthen note from the stems. Its fruit-driven structure and lively profile make it especially enjoyable lightly chilled, and the 1L format makes this a convivial choice for picnics or celebrations.
Raphaël Beysang and Émilie Hurtubise, a couple working at the southern edge of Beaujolais just north of Lyon, craft these Gamay wines and often present them in handsome recycled one-litre Beaujolais bottles.
