2022 | Jerome Lambert | Le Zudefruit

$92.00

Description:

Jérôme Lambert farms 4.5 hectares across small, distinct parcels in Thouarcé, Faye d’Anjou, Rablay-sur-Layon and Champ-sur-Layon, practising organic viticulture and decades of additive-free winemaking. As a leading natural winemaker in the Loire Valley and a respected figure across France, Jérôme focuses on meticulous fruit selection and minimal intervention to craft wines that faithfully express terroir and purity.

The 2022 Zudefruit, made from Grolleau, stands out as one of the finest examples of this variety we’ve encountered. Silken and polished in structure, it showcases pure, earthen dark red fruit and a vivid sense of freshness. This serious offering from Jérôme is especially well suited to cooler evenings and pairs beautifully with seasonal autumn and winter dishes.

Jérôme’s vineyards around Rablay-sur-Layon are planted predominantly to Chenin Blanc, Grolleau and Gamay. The Chenin Blanc thrives on schist soils, delivering wines with notable depth, mineral tension and bright acidity. The red varieties, sited on sandier soils, yield lifted, aromatic wines with delicate texture and clarity.

Winemaking at Jérôme’s domaine is intentionally simple: rigorous vineyard selection, no oak ageing and no technological additions in the cellar. The result is exceptional primary fruit expression, transparent terroir character and wines defined by striking purity, detail and drinkability.
