The 2022 release of Catherine Dumora’s (S) Rab is a striking entry from the Auvergne vigneronne. A négoce blend of grenache and gamay, the grapes were grown on calcareous soils in Minervois and raised in sandstone vats. After losing 100% of her domaine fruit that vintage, Catherine continued her collaboration with Minervois grower Thierry de Marne to bring this wine to life.
Grenache-led and light in body, it nonetheless displays concentrated fruit, silky texture and abundant aromatic intensity. The bouquet bursts with brambly fruit; perfectly judged tannins frame sun-warmed notes of black olive, wild fennel and a saline lift.
Best enjoyed slightly cooler than cellar temperature.
