The 2024 Matassa Blossom Blanc is 100% Muscat Petit à Grain, grown on old vines rooted in iron-rich red schist. Aromatically complex, it balances fruit and terroir. The wine underwent a two-week whole-cluster maceration in large wooden casks with indigenous yeasts.
On the nose it evokes a spring garden after rain — floral and fresh. The palate shows both ripe and underripe apricot with their pithy bitterness, alongside green plums. Floral notes of orange blossom and verbena are lifted by bright citrus accents of bergamot and lemongrass. Beneath these layers is a mineral core of stone, earth and wax.
Surprisingly silky for an orange wine, the texture is finely woven and supported by an agile, precise acidity that suits the low alcohol. Lemon and mandarin flavors lead, as an initial creaminess gives way to a taut, tense surface. The finish is tonic and savoury — mineral with a subtle electric tension that enlivens the palate.
