2020/21 | Benoit Camus | Chateau Roulant

$65.00

Description:

Château Roulant makes 100% Gamay around Ville-sur-Jarnioux in southern Beaujolais. Benoit Camus, who started his own project in 2006, farms five hectares of Gamay plus a tiny parcel of Chardonnay across eight low-intervention, sustainable parcels. Much of his crop is sold to négociant Philippe Jambon; only a few cuvées are bottled under his name, making them rare and sought-after (notably a praised 2011 Gamay).

The clay-limestone terroir gives mineral structure and bright fruit. Fermentations are done in concrete, often with whole bunches, pressed when ready and bottled about ten months after harvest. Benoit lives simply in a caravan on the land, reflecting his artisanal, small-scale approach.
